Lunar New Year Celebration: Our faith community enjoys the amazing Lunar New Year Celebrations every year.  All the celebrations happen following the Sunday Service from 12:00 noon – 2:00 pm. The Lunar New Year Celebration program is informative, entertaining, lots of fun, and of course lots of wonderful food. It takes a lot of planning, incredible work, and much coordination. Every year there are around 100 people from both the faith community and neighbours participate in this big event.

Moon Festival: The moon festival is an annual event. The night of the full moon signals a time of completeness and abundance in Chinese cultures. It is a symbol of harmony and unity in our faith community.  Many colorful lanterns are decorated in front of the church, and we eat moon cake together during coffee time following Sunday Service.

Fall Fair: The Fall Fair is the annual event. It is a good way to build an intercultural community, involve the neighbourhood, develop a sense of teamwork and generate income for the church. There are various activities, including Church Yard Sale table, Treasures table, Silent Auction, Tea Room, Baking & Preserves, Chinese Crepes, Hot Dogs, sausage skewers on the BBQ, Games, and Live Music. Everyone, from children to seniors, is excited to come together to enjoy this happy event.

Canada Day Pancake Breakfast: There is a tradition at WPGUC of holding a pancake breakfast on Canada Day for the congregation.  In the past, families would gather together to cook pancakes and sausages together and sing O Canada of course.  This year the Pancake Breakfast was in Community Hall at the church. Members of the congregation celebrated Canada Day with friends and family. We look forward to doing it again next year.

Christmas Eve Services: WPGUC welcomes the congregation and members of the West Point Grey community to our Christmas Eve services. Usually, there are two and sometimes three services. A Children’s Service at 5 pm for Carol Singing and often a Christmas play; a family service with readings and Carols and a Reflection at 7 pm; and the lovely Carols and Candlelight Service at 11 pm. Members of the community are warmly invited to join us for any one of the services.

Church Events

Mandarin Bible Study will resume on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. We believe that it is important for us to explore the word of God in the community and reflect on what the scripture tells us today. We also share what we learned from the previous Sunday’s Sermon. Groups of all ages are welcome to meet weekly for about one and a half hours to study the bible, share thoughts, and uncover the truth of the bible together. We will meet together on Zoom on Thursday.  On the last Thursday of the month, we will meet together in person in the church fellowship room.

Please join us via Zoom: https://z00m.us/j/5880820472

Garden Club:

Garden Club meets at the Church most Mondays from 10:00 am to noon (weather permitting). Anyone who would like to join is welcome. No experience is needed.

The garden club meets once a week from early spring to late fall, and depending on the season, we plan, plant, weed, water, or prune in the church gardens. We engage a Master Gardener for advice and larger pruning work and are working towards lowering our water consumption while making our garden a vibrant space throughout the year. All are welcome to join in the fun of our club, and no experience is necessary.
