We had a wonderful Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) Celebration after worship on February 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
The Lunar New Year Celebration is an outreach initiative and a great opportunity to connect with our neighbours, many of whom are Asian and live nearby. Approximately 100 people attended, enjoying food, entertainment, and fellowship. At least 50% of the participants were neighbours from the community.
The Lunar New Year Committee held its first meeting right after the Christmas holidays to plan and review the details ahead of the celebration. Food is always a major part of the event, and everyone was invited to bring a homemade dish. The wide variety of delicious foods created a warm, family-like atmosphere.
The church members’ self-produced and self-performed program included dances, Western participants reading Chinese poems aloud, and singing Chinese songs.
In addition, children offered singing performances, and the red envelopes were a special highlight for them. Those born in the Year of the Horse received a toy horse as a gift. The celebration ended with the singing of Auld Lang Syne.
Many people were involved in making this event possible, and we are grateful to everyone who shared their time and talents. Thank you to all who contributed to and participated in this Big Family Celebration.
