JOB TITLE: Coordinator of Children and Youth Ministry
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for responding to the spiritual needs and co-ordination of programming for children and youth at West Point Grey United Church

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Support and implement the values and mission of West Point Grey United.
- In conjunction with the Coordinating Minister, the Intercultural Coordinator, and other related church groups (eg., Worship Committee), help promote spirituality for children and youth through worship, music, faith programs (including Kids School on Sunday), and special events and opportunities (eg., Lunar New Year celebration, Children’s Sunday, Intergenerational Worship).
- In consultation and collaboration with the support and supervision of the Coordinating Minister, jointly plan and develop programming for Children and Youth. This will include coordination and delivery of programming on a regular basis.
- Find opportunities to support children and youth.

- Exhibit excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Listen actively and attentively while seeking clarification as required.
- Show initiative and leadership.
- Work independently on agreed-upon work plans.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Respond positively to feedback and direction provided by the Coordinating Minister.
OTHERS
- Strong computer and social media skills would be an asset.
- A Criminal Record Check is required for the vulnerable sector (children under 18 years old.)
- Preferences will be given to someone with experience within the United Church of Canada.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience part of a Christian community.
- Experience working or volunteering with children and youth.
- Experience developing and coordinating programs and activities for children and youth.
EVALUATION
- There will be regular meetings with the Coordinating Minister, Intercultural Coordinator, and Worship Team for supervision, program development, support, and feedback.
- A comprehensive review and evaluation process will take place in November 2025.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Hours: 5 hours per week (including Sunday Children’s Time in worship, Kids’ School, planning and preparation, and communicating with others)
- Working weeks: 38 weeks (June 29, 2025 – August 2025: non-paid vacation)
- Contract Time: 04 February 2025 – 22 June 2025; 02 September 2025 – December 24, 2025
Note: We intend to maintain this contract beyond one year.
